Sunseri Speaker Series, University of North Alabama

April 26, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

The University of North Alabama College of Arts and Sciences Sunseri Speaker Series will host Maryn McKenna April 26, at 5:30 p.m., in Banquet Halls A and B of the Gulliot University Center.

McKenna is an award-winning journalist and author who writes about public health and food policy. She is the author of Big Chicken: The Incredible Story of How Antibiotics Created Modern Agriculture and Changed the Way the World Eats. Named one of 2017’s best books, Big Chicken explores the relationship between antibiotics and industrial farming. During a decade at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, she was the only U.S. journalist assigned to full-time coverage of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She has also reported on health crises from across the world.

The Sunseri Speaker Series is made possible through a generous donation from UNA alumnus David Sunseri, who sponsored the series at UNA in order to honor his late sister, Jennifer Leigh Sunseri. The series focuses on the integration of arts and creativity with the sciences to drive innovation
